Who am I?

I'm a tea-drinking, twin-pre-schooler-raising, glasses-wearing, book-reading, Robin-loving, liberal-leaning, web-surfing, news-reading, near-Boston-living human being.

What I do for fun

I raise my preschool twins, Miriam and Joshua. I spend a lot less of my time doing this than I used to, now that I've gone back to work full-time.

Things I enjoyed before having kids, and only rarely have time for: reading, drinking tea, cooking, eating in nice restaurants, and listening to folk music.

What I do for money

I work for Boston.com as the producer for Local Search. I'm responsible for the content of the search - identifying what information you search when you search, and which information gets selected to be presented to you in the search results. The work draws a lot on my studies getting a Master's in Library Science at Simmons College (there aren't many men who can say they have a graduate degree from a women's college).

Before this, I worked on csmonitor.com, the website of the Christian Science Monitor, doing licensing deals with sites like Yahoo!, AOL, and ABCNews.com.

Previously, I was on the editorial side of things. I was Community Producer for the Monitor. Before that, I worked for a now-defunct startup, Informio, which burned through $24-million dollars trying to build voice Web applications.

CNNI Newsroom PictureDelving deeper into my past, I was more hard news: I've gone from producing and writing for CNN Headline News and CNN International, to news and search producer at Lycos to doing small business information at inc.com. Read my resume (last updated in 2006).
